Donation Level Concert Description
$50 Summer Sight-Reading Rehearsals Okay, technically not a concert, but these informal sessions, open to members and non-members alike have been a great way for DCO musicians to keep their chops up between concert seasons.
$50 Covid Virtual Playing When the pandemic shut down rehearsals, the DCO still found ways to make music together, thanks to the creativity (and technical savvy) of Music Director David Schultz.
$75 Post-Pandemic Halloween Concert Following a year-and-a-half layoff due to COVID, the DCO bounced back with a Trick-or-Treat costume party for kids of all ages.
$75 "It's Not Nice to Fool Mother Nature" Concert What happens when you program a concert on the theme "The Force and Power of Nature"? Major blizzard, power outage, and a scramble to reschedule.
$100 Tornado Benefit Concert The DCO put the "community" back in DCO by donating half the orchestra's donations to families affected by the 2012 Dexter tornado.
$100 Fiddling with the DCO One of the DCO's most fun concerts, featuring the energetic youth group, the Saline Fiddlers.
$125 High School Collaboration Concerts Another of DCO's community outreach efforts, these concerts give student-musicians from area high schools an opportunity to perform some of the great symphonic masterpieces, side-by-side with experienced DCO players.
$125 "Madcat" Ruth Concert One of our most popular concerts, featuring local jazz-blues artist Peter "Madcat" Ruth and the music of Brubeck.
$125 What the Heck Is a Pipa, Anyway? Probably the most unusual music-maker ever featured at a DCO concert, the pipa is a traditional Chinese stringed instrument similar to the lute. It was performed in the "Inspired by the Land" program, featuring compositions from around the world.
$150 Let's Dance Lots of fun, with electric violinist and hip-hop artist Rodney Page, as well as dance melodies by some of our favorite composers.
$150 Dvořák's "New World" Symphony This is the piece that started it all, back in 2006. One of our most beloved symphonies, it set the standard for future performances.
$150 Annual Gazebo Pops Concert Usually held around Flag Day, this outdoor concert features lots of patriotic fare, plus crowd-pleasing favorites from the movies, Broadway and pop culture.
$175 The Planets One of the DCO's most ambitious undertakings, involving a HUGE orchestra, a local chorus, and breathtaking visual effects.
$175 Rachmaninoff Miracle Concert What happens when your soloist for "Rach 3" cancels on the morning of your concert? Hey, NO PROBLEM! Just find someone else to play one of the most difficult concertos in the piano repertoire, cold, with no rehearsals. Hey, we got this covered!
$175 David Schultz's Debut Concert David was one of three conductors who auditioned for the DCVO following Tony Elliott's retirement. His debut was hit by the weather jinx, but he rolled with the punches, handled adversity, and impressed the orchestra with his program of Shostakovich and Dvořák.
$200 Youth Artist Competition Our annual concert highlighting an outstanding local high school student, often a concerto for an instrument not usually featured in a solo: euphonium, flute, saxophone, and even (gasp!) the viola.
$200 Dexter Bicentennial Opening Ceremonies Original piece, "From the Woods to the Waters and Home" by local composer Evan Chambers. "From Mill Creek to the Huron... We belong together".
$225 Dvořák Cello Concerto with Anthony Elliott Former DCO Music Director Anthony Elliott returned to Dexter for one last performance, this one as a soloist. Lots of love for Tony!
$225 Annual Holiday Concert From “Sleigh Ride” (with guest audience conductor) to the “Hallelujah Chorus” and the carol sing-along, this concert is always a highlight of the holiday season!
$250 Beethoven’s Ninth Bicentennial Four soloists, a full chorus, huge orchestra, and arguably the greatest symphony ever written – what is there to say? Actually, just one word: FREUDE!
